My Travel Plans for 2014

May 14, 2014

2014 – this year is already shaping up to be a great one!

The year started off with a bang with me celebrating my 21st birthday in February – now I’m finally legal everywhere! I had a wonderful night surrounded by all my lovely friends and immediate family, and was definitely spoilt rotten!

For the first half of the year I have just been staying put at home in Melbourne consumed by study and work. As dull as that sounds, it will be worthwhile in the end as this year marks my final year at university! I’ll be completing the last semester of my Bachelor of Commerce by mid-June, and the first thing I’ll be doing once it’s “pens down” on my final exam will be jumping on the next flight to the USA and beginning my next adventure!

I’ll be making my way across the southern states of America over 5 weeks with two of my friends, Bec and Tom. Those 5 weeks will be jammed-packed with travelling, sightseeing, exploring and immersing ourselves into the American lifestyle. Our itinerary is follows these major cities – Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Austin, San Antonio, New Orleans, Memphis, Atlanta, Nashville, Indianapolis, Chicago, Washington and the amazing New York City.

It will then be time to say goodbye to Bec and Tom as we head off on our own separate journeys. I’ll be meeting up with my next companion for the trip – my older sister Kristal.

We will kick-start our next 2 months of travel in Mexico!! To say I’m excited to visit Mexico is an understatement. I’ve always wanted to experience the rich culture and tradition, not to mention the food and the beaches that Mexico offers. I’ve even started to try learn Spanish for the occasion (definitely an emphasis on try). After all of the photos and stories I’ve heard from others – I could not be more eager to finally get there! From Mexico, we’ll be saying hello South America – another amazing place to tick off the bucket list! The next month and a half we will be travelling through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.

Machu Picchu

Overall, I’ll be away for about 3 ½ months – making it home just in time for my graduation and making it just long enough without my boyfriend feeling like he has been completely abandoned!

After that nothing else is planned just yet, and lets face it – I’ll probably be ridiculously broke but we’ll see where the world takes me.

I’m looking forward to sharing all the details of this journey on here for the world to see. Until then, I’ll be posting catch-up posts about my travels over last few years (mainly my 2013 Europe Adventure), my preparations for this upcoming trip and many other travel and lifestyle topics. I hope that my blog will inspire you to start your own adventure around the world!

We started our trip in Mexico (we were there for a month) before heading south to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and now Argentina. Machu Picchu was definitely a super impressive and a highlight – will you be doing the Inca Trail (it’s AMAZING!). The salt flats in Bolivia were unreal, and we really felt comfortable and at home in Chile. Pretty much it has all been spectacular – you’ll love it!

Sounds like you are currently on the trip of a lifetime Emily! Yes I will be doing the Inca Trail – I’m so excited for it, yet somewhat scared for the difficulty of it! Definitely looking forward to the salt flats too! Take care x

Wow! That sounds like quite and itinerary (except you should maybe squeeze Florida in there! but I’m a bit biased 😉 ) Can’t wait to read about your adventures!

I know, I couldn’t squeeze it in there this time! 🙁 I have been to Miami, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale before and LOVED it – so I’ll definitely be back at some stage! Thanks 🙂

Awww, no Florida love in your US itinerary – that’s where I live now! You’ll find quite a few Melburnians around here, mainly because of the Disney International Internship Program though! Love the itinerary, bit jealous!

Sadly I couldn’t fit Florida in there this time! 🙁 I’ve known a couple of people who have gone over to work for Disney – looked like a lot of fun! Thanks 🙂

Wow, that’s a loaded itinerary! I see you’re going to Atlanta, and I’m from there, so let me know if you need any tips! Also, a month and a half is a pretty short amount of time for those 5 South American countries. But, I’m currently living in Brazil and have traveled extensively through those countries, so let me know if you need any advice there too!

It’s going to be pretty jam-packed but I’m so excited! We’re doing Peru, Chile and Bolivia through a G Adventures tour, as well as a week or so in Buenos Aires and 12 days in Rio and Ilha Grande. So I’m looking forward to it, and I know we’ll definitely be back to explore some more! Thanks so much, I’ve been reading your blog for the last few weeks and have been wishing I was there already! 😛

[…] It feels like just yesterday that I sat down in this exact spot, reading my first blog post over and over again while nervously hovering over the publish button. Had I made a spelling mistake? Would anyone even read this? Who would want to read this? I pushed past the nerves and my first two posts went live on May 11th 2014 – A Quick Intro to Endlessly Exploring & My Travel Plans for 2014.
