Today is an exciting day on Endlessly Exploring! Yes, today is the day that my little blog turns one year old. Surely it hasn’t been that long since I started this blog, right?!
After constantly being inspired by other travel blogs for so long, one day last year I thought to myself…why couldn’t I do that? Not long after that thought crossed my mind, I set up my own little space on the internet. That was 365 days ago now – oh how time flies!
It feels like just yesterday that I sat down in this exact spot, reading my first blog post over and over again while nervously hovering over the publish button. Had I made a spelling mistake? Would anyone even read this? Who would want to read this? I pushed past the nerves and my first two posts went live on May 11th 2014 – A Quick Intro to Endlessly Exploring & My Travel Plans for 2014.
In my first post, I stated that “I think it’s inevitable that I will forever be endlessly exploring”, and honestly not a lot has changed since then. I am still the same twenty-something girl who is constantly dreaming about travel, always. Perhaps the only thing that’s changed is that my desire to travel is stronger than ever, and now I have this great website to share my experiences on.
When I look back over the last year of travel blogging, I can say that I’ve definitely learnt a lot. It turns out that blogging is hard work, especially when you’re just starting out and trying to get your name out there in the online world. Blogging involves a lot more than just writing posts and taking pretty pictures – it involves a lot of different disciplines thrown under the title of ‘blogger’.
It is hard to manage at times, so I’m pretty thrilled that I have been able to keep it up so far. I’ve found that it’s also very hard to accept that there will always be something that you are trying to perfect on the blog. I’m sure all of you other bloggers out there would understand – your blog is your baby (and if you’re anything like me, you want your baby to be absolutely perfect).
Furthermore, this blog has opened a few new doors for me and has given me a whole new outlook on a future career path, one that I had never actually considered before. Truth be told, I have never been a writer. In fact, I really disliked English class back in school. Who would have thought that just a few years later, I’d be sitting at my desk considering making a career out of blogging and social media? I know that I definitely didn’t!
Last but not least, I’d like to thank all of you lovely people for reading and commenting on my blog. You are all amazing and I truly appreciate every single one of you! I hope that I am constantly providing you with useful travel tips and leaving you inspired to travel the world. I’m so thankful for the amazing people I’ve met through this little blog – it’s been great to get to know so many other people who are as passionate about travelling as I am. It’s been incredible to see Endlessly Exploring grow over time and I am beyond excited to see where it will go from here!
So now I’m asking you, is there anything that you would like to see more of on the blog? Is there anything that you would like me to discuss or share advice on? Ask away!
Here’s a quick roundup of some of my posts from my first year of travel blogging!
