Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat!

February 14, 2015

Although I am always someone who is keen on discovering new places around the world, I often find myself dreaming of previous places I have been to. There is a quote that comes to mind, “You can fall in love at first sight with a place as with a person.” These words genuinely resonate with me, and I believe that this is entirely true. Often we come across a destination, whether it be a city or a country, that is like no other place we have been to before. There is something special about those places that we will never forget. That’s why for Valentine’s Day, I thought I would put together a little dedication post about some of my favourite destinations around the world. These places have well and truly stolen my heart.

So here you have it, my four destinations I would revisit in a heartbeat!

Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat!

 •  •  •

London, UK.

Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat! For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a fascination with London. Always. In fact, over the years my bedroom and study walls have been plastered with canvases of London, and my favourite Mary-Kate and Ashley movie might just be Winning London (but we will keep that one a secret, ok?). London has quite a divided following, with many people complaining that it’s a dull place with miserable weather, but even the everlasting grey skies can’t dim my view of London. The old and somewhat ugly buildings are mysterious, and enriched with history and culture. It reminds me a bit of home back in Melbourne, and although the coffee may not be the same, I do fancy a nice cup of English Breakfast tea! I have always enjoyed my time in London and I’ll be back again one day soon!

New York City, USA.

Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat!I’ve mentioned my love affair with New York City before. There is one word that accurately describes how I feel about New York City – I’m obsessed. There is just something about New York City that myself and so many others just can’t get enough of! I’ve gone back time and time again, and I’ve still barely scratched the surface of this incredibly alluring city. Maybe it’s something to do with the impressive skyline, the enchanting Central Park, or perhaps that it’s full of so many people trying to live out their biggest and wildest dreams? It’s crowded, it’s noisy and it’s dirty – but somehow it’s still inspiring and glamorous! New York City, I promise I’ll be back soon.

Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat!I’ve only been to Amsterdam once before, and it was very briefly back in late June 2013. I was instantly intrigued by the Dutch capital, and it had nothing to do with its infamous city of sin lifestyle. There were many things about Amsterdam that interested me – the charming architecture, the historic & contemporary art, the canals that weave through and connect the city, and the hundreds of bicycles that line the streets. Of course, I was a little curious about the Red Light District and the coffee shops, but there is a lot more to this city than those aspects – this city has character. I hope to go back to explore it more later this year.

Santorini, Greece.

Four Destinations I Would Revisit In A Heartbeat!

I visited Santorini in 2013 and had barely enough time there. I was only there for one afternoon, yes just one afternoon. So, needless to say it’s one of the destinations that I would revisit in a heartbeat! I was completely astonished by the beauty of this place, in particular the town of Oia. The white-washed buildings cluttered and scattered amongst the cliffsides were beautiful and it was probably one of the most romantic places I have ever visited. I would love to visit Santorini again to experience more of the delicious Greek food, the lovely locals and perhaps to see one of those famous Santorini sunsets I’ve heard so much about!

Ah New York is so magical isn’t it?! It’s definitely somewhere I’d love to go back to. It has this atmosphere that I just can’t put my finger on… Like anything and everything is possible! I’d love to go back to Budapest and Prague. I visited them both a few years ago but didn’t spend nearly as long as I wanted to there, so I’m hoping to go back to them ASAP!

Absolutely Lizzie! I think we both get the exact same feeling when we’re in New York! 😀 It’s so disappointing when you don’t get to spend enough time in such an incredible place, isn’t it?! I guess it does give you an extra excuse to head back though! 😛 I would love to visit Budapest, it’s very high on my bucket list! I’ve heard so many great things about it! 🙂

Absolutely agree with the first two! I live in the UK and take any opportunity to go back to London! It seems that I always have an endless list of things to do there. New York is just something else and I can’t wait until I’m walking back over the brooklyn bridge again! I also can’t wait until I get to visit Santorini! Brilliant post!

I thought I was the only adult with a secret love of Winning London 🙂 Your choices are great! I go back to London all the time, it’ll always be my second home. I have yet to make it Santorini, but would love to! So think I’d replace that with Tokyo.

Haha yes, Mary-Kate and Ashley fan for life! 😛 There’s been a couple of mentions for Tokyo. I’m yet to go there but I’ve heard so many great reviews! 🙂

Nice list! I wrote a post about 4 places I would revisit a few weeks ago on my blog as well. New York made it to my list also! It’s funny because our titles are very similar, even though I published mine in early February. If you’re feeling up to it, check out my post 🙂

[…] In the summer of 2013, I spent one afternoon in the mystical Santorini, yes just one afternoon. With not nearly enough time to explore the wonders of this famous place, I set off on a mission to make the most of my time there and wind my way through the cluttered buildings and crowds of Oia and Fira. Needless to say, it instantly became one of the destinations that I would revisit in a heartbeat. […]

I’m like that about London too! It’s not my usual kind of place because of the weather and no beaches but there’s just something about it. (And you’re totally right about the coffee in Europe compared to Melbourne!)
